Massage Therapists in Eugene

Helms Chiropractic

Glenna MacKinnon, LMT

Glenna, has worked for Dr. Helms, chiropractor in west Eugene, Oregon, for over 1 year and has been a licensed massage therapist in Oregon since 1995.  Two years after completing the massage therapy program at Lane Community College in Eugene, she moved to Newport, Oregon.  After building a successful private practice there for 13 years she moved back to Eugene in November 2009.  Her massage practice has been a combination of working with people in chronic pain, recovery from injury and those needing long term maintenance.

About the time Glenna moved to Newport she was studying acupressure with the Northwest Acupressure Institute.  That led to a three-week journey to China to study Tuina massage at the Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing.  Other educational massage courses have included craniosacral, myoskeletal, stretching and sports massage.  She emphasizes diet, nutrition and exercise in her personal life and professional practice.  Deep tissue and manual lymph drainage also are a focus of her work.

Glenna's philosophy is that we should all take an active role in our own health care, knowing we all need help along the way.  Our body hears what our minds are saying and that has a tremendous impact on how we feel.  Each person needs something different from a massage, so listening to people's stories, determining how she can help each individual by applying her skills, is a challenge she enjoys.

Previously, Glenna worked for the U.S. Forest Service and has a B.S. degree in Forest Management from Oregon State University.  She enjoys hiking, backpacking, Pilates and reading.   She lives with her husband of 12 years, Steve Beaty, in the River Road area of Eugene.
